Angry parents of students attending a class at St Joseph's College, St Joseph, is demanding answers after 32 students of a Fifth Form class were strip-searched yesterday. The St Joseph police were called in after a student reported that $1,400 was stolen from him. CNC 3 reported last night that the students were taken by a teacher to the police station where an official complaint was made.
Parents say three police officers–two males and one female–went to the class yesterday afternoon to carry out the search. The officers took the students to an enclosed area to strip as they searched for the missing cash. After one hour of searching, the money was still missing. Parents say the search was illegal and are accusing the school principal Kester De Verteuil and the police of treating the students as criminals.
