An­gry par­ents of stu­dents at­tend­ing a class at St Joseph's Col­lege, St Joseph, is de­mand­ing an­swers af­ter 32 stu­dents of a Fifth Form class were strip-searched yes­ter­day. The St Joseph po­lice were called in af­ter a stu­dent re­port­ed that $1,400 was stolen from him. CNC 3 re­port­ed last night that the stu­dents were tak­en by a teacher to the po­lice sta­tion where an of­fi­cial com­plaint was made.

Par­ents say three po­lice of­fi­cers–two males and one fe­male–went to the class yes­ter­day af­ter­noon to car­ry out the search. The of­fi­cers took the stu­dents to an en­closed area to strip as they searched for the miss­ing cash. Af­ter one hour of search­ing, the mon­ey was still miss­ing. Par­ents say the search was il­le­gal and are ac­cus­ing the school prin­ci­pal Kester De Ver­teuil and the po­lice of treat­ing the stu­dents as crim­i­nals.
