Congress of the People candidate Carol Cuffy-Dowlat says Prime Minister Patrick Manning has embarrassed the founder and father of the People's National Movement (PNM) Dr Eric Williams. "Gone are the days when you would have been proud to say great is the PNM. The PNM today is the Patrick National Movement and not the People's National Movement." She appealed to PNM supporters to save their party by voting out the PNM.

"If you love the PNM save your party, you need to vote Patrick Manning out, you need to vote the PNM out at this time." Cuffy-Dowlat, who is contesting Manning for the San Fernando East seat, was speaking at a People's Partnership meeting at Market Square, Point Fortin, on Thursday night. Claiming that Manning had failed as a father of the nation, she called on him to return the children of the nation to their mother. "Please father, please give the children of the nation a chance," she said.

Describing himself as a servant representative, COP candidate for Point Fortin Nyahuma Obika, lamented that the unemployment rate in the constituency was over 14 per cent, unemployment rate among the women was 11 per cent higher than the national rate and poverty rate was 25 per cent. Reading from Government's 2004 budget speech, Obika said they had promised a highway from San Fernando to Point Fortin and the construction of the Point Fortin Hospital. (SW)
