PRESS RE­LEASE FROM THE TO­BA­GO COUN­CIL PNM

The To­ba­go Coun­cil of the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment joins the is­land and coun­try in ex­tend­ing sin­cer­est con­do­lences to Mrs. Hazel Man­ning, mem­bers of the Man­ning fam­i­ly and all the friends, well wish­ers and ad­mir­ers, on the pass­ing of Mr. Patrick Man­ning for­mer Prime Min­is­ter of Trinidad and To­ba­go and long­stand­ing Po­lit­i­cal Leader of the PNM. The Coun­cil salutes the stel­lar con­tri­bu­tion of this states­man to the de­vel­op­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go, its in­sti­tu­tions and its peo­ple. We share in the ad­mi­ra­tion of his view, his com­mit­ment and his courage. Patrick Man­ning did not on­ly want to see things hap­pen; he made things hap­pen. It was dur­ing Mr. Man­ning's stint as Po­lit­i­cal Leader of the PNM that the To­ba­go Coun­cil was formed in 1998, sig­nal­ing a re­ver­sal of the par­ty's for­tunes in To­ba­go. We ad­mire the grace and dig­ni­ty with which he en­dorsed his phys­i­cal chal­lenges and as he moved on to bet­ter place, we pray that his soul may rest in peace. State­ment - Con­do­lences on the pass­ing of Hon Patrick Man­ning YOUTH ARM OF THE I.L.P�SAT­UR­DAY, JU­LY 2, 2016

The Ex­ec­u­tive and mem­bers of the In­de­pen­dent Lib­er­al Par­ty (ILP) joins with the na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty in mourn­ing the pass­ing of for­mer Prime Min­is­ter and for­mer Po­lit­i­cal Leader of the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) this morn­ing. To the Man­ning fam­i­ly, the mem­bers of the PNM and the wider pop­u­la­tion, we ex­tend our con­do­lences. Mr Man­ning de­vot­ed 44 years of his life to na­tion­al ser­vice dur­ing which time he served as one of this coun­try's most se­nior and vet­er­an leg­is­la­tors, and al­so as Prime Min­is­ter for ap­prox­i­mate­ly 14 years. His im­pact on the de­vel­op­ment and di­rec­tion of our twin-is­land na­tion and peo­ple is there­fore in­deli­bly etched in­to our his­to­ry and will not be for­got­ten. We pause, there­fore, to re­flect on his life and his con­tri­bu­tion to the shap­ing of the lives of all cit­i­zens and our so­ci­ety.
