KINGSTON, Jamaica–Digicel Business has signed a partnership with Stream Technologies, a global leader in connectivity solutions for the Internet of Things that will see customers connecting their machines, devices and appliances wirelessly using an 'IoT' platform that will power Digicel Business' Machine to Machine (M2M) products.
The Internet of Things (IoT) revolution sees more devices from any industry becoming connected, thus allowing easy transfer of data over a network without the need for human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
Digicel Business is bringing this technology to its customers in a way that will make it easy for them to install and use–with high availability and scalability–and Stream's "IoT-x" platform does just that.
Essentially, devices such as a refrigeration unit at a cold storage facility or an electricity meter at a home will become "intelligent" assets and provide a new level of efficiency for businesses.
The product will assist Digicel Business customers who need to manage large volumes of installations or automate deployments for their assets, allowing them to integrate it seamlessly into their systems.
Group products director, Digicel Business, Martin Carroll, said: "With our partnership with Stream Technologies, we are bringing the most advanced M2M products to our customers across the Caribbean and Central America."
