The national trio of Solangel Guzman, Jada Renales and Alistair Espinoza all captured two titles at the Solo Senior and Masters Open Badminton Championships, which concluded at the Central Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Chaguanas on Saturday night.
Guzman, who won the women's singles title at the Caribbean Regional Badminton Championships in Dominican Republic last month, won the women's doubles and women's singles titles in comfortable fashion.
In the women's singles final Guzman eased past Avril Marcelle 21-10, 21-13. Guzman then joined forces with Renales to win the women's doubles title with a 21-8, 21-15 victory over Virginia Balwant and Stephanie Mitchell.
Renales, who is still a national Under-19 player, paired up with Espinoza in the mixed doubles category. Renales and Espinoza outlasted Balwant and Justin Siu 21-15, 21-11 in the final.
Espinoza also snatched the men's singles title with a 21-12, 21-18 victory over Roger Moore. Siu did not finish the tournament empty handed, winning the men's doubles with Rahul Rampersad.
In the round robin masters doubles, Christopher Joachim and Arnand Maharaj won all four of their matches including a walkover win to claim the title. The masters doubles category included men's and women's teams.
