The Peoples Partnership (PP) Government has spent more than $200 billion over the past three years and Princes Town has nothing to show for it, Independent Liberal Party (ILP) leader Jack Warner said on Friday night at a political meeting in Princes Town.Warner promised supporters that an ILP-controlled Princes Town Regional Corporation would improve quality of life in the electoral districts. To address the problem of unemployment, Warner said, they planned to develop the Caroni factory facilities into an industrial park.
"Employment is critical for us, for the people in this corporation," he said.Warner said there is still no pipe-borne water in some areas. "One would have thought that after more than $200 billion which was spent over the past three years, the residents of the electoral district of Lengua/Indian Walk would at least have access to pipe-borne water."But the People's Partnership tells us they deliver and the PNM, a major part of the problem, all of a sudden wants you to believe that they have the answer. What a shame!"
Warner spoke about numerous landslips, no street lights, drainage problems and polluted rivers, saying that the PNM must also be held accountable."My people, I can go on and on and on because on every street in this Princes Town Regional Corporation we either have drainage problems, road rehabilitation problems, water problems or light problems. And this has happened because certain people have been sleeping on the job and receiving salaries or stipends under false pretences."
