The XXII Meeting of the Special Committee on Transport of the Association of Caribbean States will take place tomorrow.The meeting, to be held at the ACS Secretariat, Port-of-Spain, follows on from the mandate issued to the ACS Directorate of Transport at this year's Summit of Heads of State hosted in P�tion Ville, Republic of Haiti.Andreas R Talea, general manager of the Suriname Port Management Company, representing Suriname, will serve as chair to this week's meeting.
Minister of Transport Stephen Cadiz is expected to be among those in attendance. Cadiz, who will deliver an opening address, will be accompanied by his advisor, Amanda Paul.
Co-ordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean Ministry of Transport for Cuba, Engineer Pedro Su�rez is another notable figure in the list of confirmed attendees. Su�rez is scheduled to give a presentation on the work of the Special Committee under Cuba's chairmanship for the period 2012, focusing primarily on the project Maps of Maritime Routes in the Greater Caribbean.
According to the ACS Director of Transport, George Nicholson, the meeting will seek to provide an update on current progress, as it relates to the directive put forward at the V Summit, and additionally facilitate discussion between ACS member states and regional organisations involved in the field of transport within the greater Caribbean region.
