Trinidad is WestJet's 81st destination and joins Antigua, Curacao, Costa Rica and Manzanillo, Mexico, as part of the airline's 2012-2013 winter season offerings.

WestJet pioneered low-cost flying in Canada, employs 8,600 people across Canada and operates a fleet of 99 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. The aircraft has seating capacity of 30 passengers in the business class cabin and 191 seats in its economy class service. CAL CEO Robert Corbie said that the addition to its fleet takes the airline to a new altitude and plans are in place to immediately position this aircraft across its route network with particular emphasis on London and New York from Trinidad and Guyana as soon as further approvals from those authorities are received.

Corbie further stated that CAL's primary focus is to continue enhancing the brand experience by providing a higher level of comfort and personalised service to its customers.
