McLeod to cops: Find the culprits

by

Leave no stone unturned in finding the culprits, Labour Minister Errol McLeod says as he commented on the alleged threats on the life of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her Cabinet members. He said he always had condemned acts of violence and called on law enforcement agencies to end such attempts. He made the statement during a courtesy call at the National Entrepreneurship Development Company's (Nedco) office in Cocoyea yesterday, during the branch's customer appreciation day. Saying such threats always would affect a country negatively in the international arena, he said it was how local security systems responded that would determine the outlook.

McLeod said: "I have always deprecated any attempt to do injustice against anybody. In the case of the Prime Minister and colleague ministers being threatened, I encourage our intelligence agencies and our law enforcement agencies to ensure that no stone is left unturned in identifying very carefully the culprits and putting such attempts to an end once and for all. "I think such reports, such threats will always affect the country negatively. "It is how our systems respond that will bring the reassurance that will be necessary to the international and also our national community."
