Some 100 sporting students of the University of T&T (UTT) will have the opportunity to participate in T&T sport camps around the country.
The programme is being hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Sport Company and the Tobago House of Assembly. The programme is expected to see sporting students from all over the country participating in the camps held from July 27–August 21.
Yesterday the Academy of Sports and Leisure Studies of UTT held is inaugural service learning orientation at its Corinth Campus, San Fernando, which forms part of the two-day seminar. Students were coached in several areas including computer skills. Some of the areas included project management, effective communication and project management.
Lecturer of the department Joy Mafudize said the programme is part of the syllabus where students must be educated in both practical and theory areas.
Mafudize said students will also be awarded marks for participating in programme. Following orientation students will have the opportunity to assist in either the atlethic or administrative field.
