Some 100 sport­ing stu­dents of the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) will have the op­por­tu­ni­ty to par­tic­i­pate in T&T sport camps around the coun­try.

The pro­gramme is be­ing host­ed in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry of Sport and Youth Af­fairs, the Sport Com­pa­ny and the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly. The pro­gramme is ex­pect­ed to see sport­ing stu­dents from all over the coun­try par­tic­i­pat­ing in the camps held from Ju­ly 27–Au­gust 21.

Yes­ter­day the Acad­e­my of Sports and Leisure Stud­ies of UTT held is in­au­gur­al ser­vice learn­ing ori­en­ta­tion at its Corinth Cam­pus, San Fer­nan­do, which forms part of the two-day sem­i­nar. Stu­dents were coached in sev­er­al ar­eas in­clud­ing com­put­er skills. Some of the ar­eas in­clud­ed project man­age­ment, ef­fec­tive com­mu­ni­ca­tion and project man­age­ment.

Lec­tur­er of the de­part­ment Joy Ma­fudize said the pro­gramme is part of the syl­labus where stu­dents must be ed­u­cat­ed in both prac­ti­cal and the­o­ry ar­eas.

Ma­fudize said stu­dents will al­so be award­ed marks for par­tic­i­pat­ing in pro­gramme. Fol­low­ing ori­en­ta­tion stu­dents will have the op­por­tu­ni­ty to as­sist in ei­ther the atleth­ic or ad­min­is­tra­tive field.
