Defending champions East were denied an outright victory against South-West on Tuesday in Round Two of the BGTT Under-19 tournament, after a raging bushfire caused official to abandon the match at James Park in Point Fortin. With South-West in dire straits after being asked to follow-on, fire prevented further action with more than one hour's play in the contest remaining.
Earlier, East made 301 for nine declared and then routed South-West for a meagre 91 on first innings. South-West, asked to bat again ,were reeling on 79 for five when play was called off.
T&T and West Indies impressive youth batting allrounder Yannic Cariah continued his fine form in the series, with another admirable performance for North-East against Tobago at Shaw Park. Cariah notched a brilliant 156 in his team's massive first innings total of 410 for nine declared. The right-arm leg-spinner then bagged five for 30 in Tobago's reply of 182, as the match ended in a tame draw.
In other matches, Central and North took first innings points against South-East and North respectively. For Central, Keiron Joseph (92), Videsh Sookhai (81) and Derone Davis (3-62) continue to be standouts.
