Radical Designs is credited with the new look which Prime Minister Patrick Manning shows off during his election campaign.
According to Sport Minister Gary Hunt, his sister Diane Hunt is mainly responsible for Manning's attire on the campaign trail as he seeks another five-year term in office. Manning called a snap election for May 24 just 30 months into a new term. In addition to his new look, Diane Hunt also designs the shirts which Manning wears on the political platform. According to Hunt, Diane has been doing this since the last general election in 2007.
Hunt said Radical Designs was doing it voluntary as they support the ideals of the People's National Movement. "We are caring and loyal supporters for our party and our Prime Minister," Minister Hunt told the Guardian yesterday. He said in Manning's latest shirt there were two sets of leaves which signify the vision of the PNM and the Prime Minister.
"On the left side it has leaves which signify mind, body and soul and on the right leaves signify five pillars of Vision 2020 – nurturing a caring society, creating innovative people, sound infrastructure and environment, competitive business and effective governance," Hunt said. He was confident the PNM would return to office for another term. "The campaign is going very well and our support continues to grow, even in Opposition's strongholds. "No doubt, the people of Trinidad and Tobago has confidence in the governance, vision and programmes of the PNM," Hunt added.
He also spoke of the achievements of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago, including the provision of financial and technical assistance of more than $27.8 million in 2009 to national sporting organisations, clubs and community leagues to support development programmes. Hunt said other infrastructural works implemented included upgrading works in five community swimming pools in Diego Martin, La Horquetta, Couva, Sangre Grande and Siparia.
He said installation of lights at eight jogging tracks was almost completed. They included Crown Street, Tacarigua; Matura Recreation Ground; Agate Park, Digeo Martin; Shell Road, Rio Claro; Manzanilla; Maloney Recreation Ground; Lopinot and Fanny Village Recreation Ground, Pt Fortin.
