?The Government's boss has spoken–and she's keeping Jack Warner as Works Minister, Fifa post and all.
Speaking to reporters at Knowsley Building yesterday, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar detailed her decision to keep Warner as Works Minister, after Government's receipt of legal opinions concerning his Fifa post. Persad-Bissessar said: "The three legal opinions spoke with one voice...There was no dissent and there was nothing wrong with Mr Warner holding the portfolio of Works Minister and Fifa vice-president.
"I had said I would await the opinions and I'd also said it was a matter of law and ethics," she said. "In law, obviously there is nothing that is wrong with it. In terms of ethics, it has to do with work ethic and if it is that Mr Warner is capable of performing his functions of Works Minister and those are not impaired in terms of work, then I see no reasons why Mr Warner should be called upon to choose, or whether I, as Prime Minister, should ask him to step down as Works Minister–so he will remain as Minister of Works."
