Attorney General Anand Ramlogan has not received a legal opinion from Sir Ellis Clarke on Ish Galbaransingh and Steve Ferguson's bid to be tried locally.
This was confirmed yesterday, after a Guardian report on Clarke's legal opinion. Clarke said he believed the duo should be tried locally and he criticised "prosecuting authorities" on the issue.
Galbaransingh and Ferguson are fighting extradition to the US, after being charged for fraud arising out of the construction of Piarco Airport terminal building. Ramlogan on Wednesday declined comment on criticisms by Independent senator Helen Drayton who had said that "road rage" had no place in the Attorney General's office.
