The Hawks­bills were re­placed by the St Kitts & Nevis Pa­tri­ots in the CPL last year fol­low­ing a lack of Gov­ern­ment sup­port, as well as fail­ure to find a buy­er for the fran­chise which played its match­es at the in­ter­na­tion­al venue which bears the name of the for­mer West In­dies cap­tain.

"The last cou­ple of games we had here, I think we had some­thing that was spec­tac­u­lar enough that, in my opin­ion, could be clas­si­fied and classed with any that was held in the re­gion, so yeah there is a pur­pose for that," said Sir Viv.

"With all the oth­er huge tour­na­ments around the world, our guys can be show­cased where they are in a rea­son­able enough po­si­tion for them to high­light their skills and maybe draw at­ten­tion to oth­er fran­chis­es around the world be­cause that I think is a huge out­let."

At the time of its re­moval, Pe­te Rus­sell, chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer of the CPL, said the Hawks­bills fran­chise had not been ter­mi­nat­ed, but was left out as the for­mat and the tour­na­ment win­dow could not ac­com­mo­date sev­en teams.(CMC)
