Richard Her­cules, 19, of Quar­ry Street, Diego Mar­tin died at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal (PoS­GH) ear­ly this morn­ing af­ter he and friends were at­tacked by gun­men.

Po­lice re­ports stat­ed that around mid­night Her­cules was out­side his home when neigh­bours heard loud ex­plo­sions. Up­on check­ing they found him ly­ing on the road.

Her­cules' neigh­bours rushed him to the St James Med­ical Cen­tre where he was treat­ed and sent to the PoS­GH. He suc­cumbed to his in­juries around 4 am.

The po­lice said Her­cules was known to them, but de­clined to elab­o­rate fur­ther. A mo­tive for the shoot­ing is yet to be as­cer­tained.

Sar­gent Brown, Con­sta­ble Gor­don and Cor­po­rals Reyes and Jupiter were on the scene in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
