Seven months after the closing of the merger of Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC) and Columbus International, the combined companies rolled out the T&T leg of their ongoing integrating and rebranding at a gala event at the Hyatt Regency in Port-of-Spain yesterday evening.
The new brand, C&W Business, made its debut locally by unveiling a new suite of services for businesses in T&T. John Maduri, president and CEO of C&W Business, told the T&T Guardian in an interview just hours ahead of the official launch, that the company is offering solutions to help businesses cope in a fast changing and competitive environment.
"Change is constant, so one of the key issues we are getting at with the new C&W Business is how to get some of that uncertainty out of the way. It has to do with taking uncertainty away from CIOs, business owners, government leaders, to focus on technology."We have the network to do that. We have the customer experience and we have the solutions to really help organisations to focus on what is next," he said.
Maduri said the new brand represented the coming together of the old Cable and Wireless, a company that has been in business for 140 years, with Columbus to offer a range of services including a disaster recovery plan, work space solutions, small business solutions, IT solutions, connectivity and managed networks. He gave the example of a PBX phone system in a small business that was coming to the end of its lifespan.
"Do you spend capital dollars for a next PBX? Do you make the decision to utilise a new PBX service? With our service, the PBX is in our data centre and we provide a solution for the customer on a recurring basis and they do not have to make that investment in capital. They do not need to worry about when technology changes," he explained.
Maduri, who said businesses will become more competitive using the enhanced services offered by C&W Business, pointed out: "We are a leader globally and one of the leading ICT providers."
The combination of CWC and Columbus has created an expanded datacentre footprint throughout the Caribbean and Central America, with facilities located in Panama, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas and Curaao. The company is building two new datacentres in Colombia and T&T.
C&W Business is developing a modern pay-as-you-go infrastructure for both datacentre and network customers.
