The Copyright Music Organisation (Cott) has withdrawn its legal threat to stop the popular Soaka Till Sunrise Fete scheduled for tomorrow, after striking a last-minute deal with event promoters.Cott's change of heart came almost exactly 24 hours after its initial release threatening legal action against the fete's promoters, WOW Events, for an unpaid copyright licence fee for the event.
In a press release sent yesterday afternoon, Cott announced that it had granted the fete promoters the licence and thanked them for paying the fee. "The promoters of the highly-anticipated event, scheduled to take place tomorrow, have joined the list of events for this weekend that have already secured the requisite Cott licence for the public performance of its member's works," the release said. The party will take place at the O2 Park, Chaguaramas, between 3 am and 9 am.
