The Telecommunications Authority of T&T (TATT) and The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine will launch a cyber safety awareness project on Wednesday at 4 pm.
Developed by the university's Campus Information Technology Services department, the project aims to make the Internet safer for children by helping children and parent to understand the risks associated with the inappropriate use of technology.
TATT will provide up to $150,000 in funding for the project, a release from TATT said.
TATT and UWI recently signed a memorandum of agreement signalling the start of the yearlong project which will be executed mainly by CITS with the support of IT students from the university. Signing on behalf of TATT was CEO Cris Seecheran, while St Augustine Campus Principal Professor Clement Sankat signed on behalf of the university.
The launch will be held at TATT's office, Eighth Avenue Extension, off Twelfth Street, Barataria.
