Even before re-elected Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Orville London had completed his victory speech last night, National Security Minister Jack Warner, chairman of the United National Congress, said he accepted the result of the PNM landslide victory.

Preliminary results gave the People's National Movement, led by London, a landslide victory with TOP leader Ashworth Jack being defeated by the PNM's Sheldon Cunningham in his Providence/Mason Hall/Moriah electoral district. The T&T Guardian reported a week ago that the PNM was expected to win by a margin of 11 seats to one.

Contacted by the T&T Guardian last night, Warner said he would have to speak with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People, Ashworth Jack, before he made a comprehensive statement on the result. Warner added, however, he personally accepted the result. "The people of Tobago have spoken and I accept the election result," he added.
