The Classical Music Development Foundation of Trinidad & Tobago (CMDFTT) Young Artist Collective singers and the UTT String Orchestra will present Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas on Saturday and Sunday at Daaga Hall, UWI, St Augustine.
According to a CMDFTT release, the ensemble will be under the baton of guest conductor Colin Mendez-Morris of the Toronto-based, ethnocultural ArsMusica opera company.
Singing the role of Dido, is outstanding soprano Natalia Dopwell, who brings a full-bodied, yet sensitive vocal quality to the role.
UTT artist in residence, Nicole Jordan (soprano) brings her light and energetic soprano voice to the role of Belinda, while Raguel Gabriel (tenor) sings the role of Aeneas.
The performance will also feature Shellon Antoine (bass) as Sorcerer.
"Much detailed work has gone into the preparation of the ensemble, the orchestra under the direction of concertmaster Jonathan Storer, and the singers with the vocal guidance of June Nathaniel, over many months of rehearsal," says the release.
The production will be staged by Dr Helmer Hilwig with costuming by Margaret Sheppard.
Tickets are available at Fine Arts, Grand Bazaar, at The Gallery, Long Circular Mall, and from CMDFTT Young Artist Collective Singers and UTT Orchestra Members.
