Trinidad and To­ba­go's Con­sul Gen­er­al in New York, Rudrawa­tee Nan Ram­goolam was re­cent­ly ho­n­oured with a Com­mu­ni­ty Lead­er­ship Award at the Salute to Ex­cel­lence gala from Suf­folk Com­mu­ni­ty Col­lege. The award was giv­en in recog­ni­tion of Ram­goolam's work with train­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties while Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion.

Ram­goolam vis­it­ed the Suf­folk Com­mu­ni­ty Col­lege's work­force de­vel­op­ment tech­nol­o­gy cen­tre in Au­gust 2010 with a del­e­ga­tion from Trinidad and To­ba­go and ini­ti­at­ed dis­cus­sions on adopt­ing the mod­el for our ap­pli­ca­tion. In Oc­to­ber 2011, Ram­goolam ad­dressed the first man­u­fac­tur­ing sum­mit and sym­po­sium at Suf­folk Com­mu­ni­ty Col­lege at which she asked the re­gion­al busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty to con­sid­er op­por­tu­ni­ties for in­vest­ment in Trinidad and To­ba­go. Ac­com­pa­ny­ing her were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Busi­ness As­so­ci­a­tion in New York and Dol­ly Williams (con­struc­tion con­trac­tor).

An ag­gres­sive com­mu­ni­ca­tions and out­reach pro­gramme was in­sti­tut­ed re­sult­ing in a wider reach be­cause of in­creased util­i­sa­tion of so­cial and tra­di­tion­al me­dia. The ac­ces­si­bil­i­ty of the Con­sul Gen­er­al al­so im­proved sig­nif­i­cant­ly with key re­la­tion­ships be­ing de­vel­oped with state gov­ern­ment bod­ies and key mem­bers of the com­mu­ni­ty.
