CALGARY-Canadian airline, WestJet on Saturday launched a daily, non-stop service between Toronto and Port of Spain. The inaugural flight from Toronto's Pearson International Airport arrived at Piarco International Airport at 6am on Saturday morning. The WestJet flight from Piarco to Toronto leaves Trinidad at 7am and arrives in Toronto at noon.
"We're very pleased to offer daily service to Trinidad and Tobago, especially as the islands celebrate the 50th anniversary of their independence," said Peter Tong, WestJet's Director of Schedule and Network Planning.
"We look forward to further cementing the strong ties that exist between the large Trinidadian community in Canada and their homeland. We also know that vacationers will enjoy the many events and attractions for which the islands are famous, including Carnival, the new Tourism Park 2012 and more."
"We are pleased once again to see WestJet continuing to grow their service at Toronto Pearson," said Howard Bohan, Vice President, Aviation Services for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. "It's great that our passengers will now have additional choices when planning their upcoming vacations."

WestJet offers scheduled service to 81 destinations in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. WestJet pioneered low-cost flying in Canada, employs 8,600 people across Canada and operates a fleet of 99 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Caribbean Airlines announced earlier this month that its wide-body 767-ER300 aircraft began operations between Piarco, Trinidad and Pearson International Airport, Toronto from November 3.
The aircraft has seating capacity of 30 passengers in the business class cabin and 191 seats in its economy class service. CAL CEO Robert Corbie said that the addition to its fleet takes the airline to a new altitude and plans are in place to immediately position this aircraft across its route network with particular emphasis on London and New York from Trinidad and Guyana as soon as further approvals from those authorities are received.
Corbie further stated that CAL's primary focus is to continue enhancing the brand experience by providing a higher level of comfort and personalised service to its customers.
