Doc­tors have still not been is­sued cur­few pass­es, more than a week af­ter the State of Emer­gency (SoE) was de­clared in the coun­try. This was re­vealed yes­ter­day by sec­re­tary gen­er­al of the Med­ical Pro­fes­sion­als of Trinidad and To­ba­go (MPATT) Dr She­henaz Mo­hammed who ex­pressed con­cern about the sit­u­a­tion. She said doc­tors have been re­port­ing for du­ty and those who have to work stay overnight at the hos­pi­tals. She said while there are on call rooms for doc­tors at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, she does not know if such ac­com­mo­da­tions are avail­able at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal and the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal.

"Con­sul­tants work on call and if they are called out for a sur­gi­cal case af­ter 9 pm they will not be able to reach the hos­pi­tal. We would re­al­ly like to ad­vise the au­thor­i­ties that es­sen­tial ser­vices should have been pri­or­i­ty in terms of is­su­ing pass­es." At­tempts to reach South West Re­gion­al Health Au­thor­i­ty (SWRHA) chair­man Dr Lack­ram Bo­doe for com­ment on this sit­u­a­tion have been un­suc­cess­ful.
