Dis­as­ter man­age­ment co-or­di­na­tor Phillip Ram­dass will be con­duct­ing ses­sions prepar­ing chil­dren and young peo­ple in the San­gre Grande area to deal with dis­as­ter. It co­in­cides with the theme of In­ter­na­tion­al Day of Dis­as­ter Risk Re­duc­tion (Oc­to­ber 13). The Oc­to­ber ses­sions will be con­duct­ed by the Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Unit in con­junc­tion with the Of­fice of Dis­as­ter Pre­pared­ness and Man­age­ment. The ses­sions are time­ly since T&T is in the hur­ri­cane sea­son.

Ram­dass said: "The spe­cif­ic ob­jec­tive is to de­liv­er in­for­ma­tion (print­ed and in­for­ma­tive ses­sions) on dis­as­ter and schools and youth-based or­gan­i­sa­tions in the re­gion. "In­for­ma­tion which can em­pow­er them and thus re­duce the im­pact of dis­as­ters on their fam­i­lies and com­mu­ni­ties." School su­per­vi­sor El­ma Joyeau-Camp­bell will be as­sist­ing in the con­sul­ta­tion in sev­er­al schools. The in­vi­ta­tion has been ex­tend­ed to pri­ma­ry schools in the area.
