Disaster management co-ordinator Phillip Ramdass will be conducting sessions preparing children and young people in the Sangre Grande area to deal with disaster. It coincides with the theme of International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction (October 13). The October sessions will be conducted by the Disaster Management Unit in conjunction with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management. The sessions are timely since T&T is in the hurricane season.
Ramdass said: "The specific objective is to deliver information (printed and informative sessions) on disaster and schools and youth-based organisations in the region. "Information which can empower them and thus reduce the impact of disasters on their families and communities." School supervisor Elma Joyeau-Campbell will be assisting in the consultation in several schools. The invitation has been extended to primary schools in the area.
