For­mer prime min­is­ter Bas­deo Pan­day says claims of eth­nic im­bal­ance in the so­ci­ety should be in­ves­ti­gat­ed and dealt with. Pan­day ques­tioned why peo­ple were seek­ing to con­demn Po­lice Ser­vice Com­mis­sion (PSC) Nizam Mo­hammed be­fore in­ves­ti­gat­ing the facts. In an in­ter­view yes­ter­day he said if Mo­hammed was right the mat­ter should be ad­dressed but if he was wrong then he should be con­demned.

Pan­day said the me­dia were rais­ing the wrong ques­tions about the mat­ter. He said the cause of the eth­nic im­bal­ance must be de­ter­mined be­fore com­ing to any emo­tion­al con­clu­sion about the is­sue. "Why do they want him to re­sign? Why they think he should re­sign?" he asked.
