Breath of Dance Theatre (BODT) recently staged Celebrating a Stronger Return at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s.
The youth-focused group, founded in 2012 by Precious Cornelius with just two students, has blossomed into a thriving company of 30 dancers, offering tuition in the genres of folk, modern contemporary and urban styles.
The group’s name was inspired by Cornelius’ motto “To dance is to breathe, and dance equals life”
The dance recital was BODT’s first live stage performance after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The repertoire included performances by sister group, the Chaguanas Women’s Youth Group (CWYG), whose artistic director, Cleavand “Furaha” Serries, is also a tutor at BODT, along with Matthew McClean and Shawna Mitchell.
