Jamdong Management is set to release its all-female Sass Riddim today, featuring soca artistes Jadel, Rane Blackman and Timeka Marshall.
Jamdong Management’s Kyle Lee Sing, renowned for pushing boundaries in the music industry, conceptualised the Sass Riddim with the goal of creating something unprecedented.
“I wanted to venture into uncharted territory,” he said.
“Nadia (Batson) did wonders with her all-female band but we wanted to take it a step further—an all-female rhythm.”
Lee Sing collaborated with David Millien of Mill Beatz Entertainment and Jason Shaft Bishop to bring the groundbreaking project to life.
“Mill’s creative concepts are amazing, and when discussing the project, he suggested bringing Shaft on board for added creativity,” Lee Sing added.
Jason Shaft Bishop, who has created some of the biggest hits in soca, said: “The songs breathe life into the heart of Carnival, capturing the essence of ‘The Mecca’. The riddim is the inspiration, embodying the spirit of Carnival itself.”
The trio worked tirelessly to find three exceptional women to embody the spirit of the Sass Riddim.
Rane Blackman, a rising star in the soca industry, showcases her versatility and range, especially in this power soca realm.
“My music is intended for both the young and the young at heart, showcasing the versatility in the sounds. It’s essential to demonstrate that soca music is accessible and enjoyable for everyone,” Blackman said.
Jadel, known for her commanding stage presence, seamlessly blends party soca with her gospel and R&B influences.
“I love groovy soca. However, I always wanted to do power soca, so once presented with this opportunity I jumped at it,” Jadel said.
And Guyanese soca diva Timeka Marshall adds her unique flair, transcending borders in the T&T soca scene. Marshall’s “Miss Winey Winey” celebrates the freedom to revel in Caribbean culture and Carnival without the constraints of a partner unfamiliar with the region’s vibrant party culture.
Each artiste brings a distinct flavour to the Sass Riddim, which is poised to be a game-changer with its unique blend of talent, creativity and the infectious spirit of Carnival.
The singles on the Sass Riddim are anticipated to be Road March title contenders.
