Harry Carabello Young, born in Port of Spain on 24 February 1931 died peacefully, aged 89, at his home in Yorkshire, UK, on 12 May 2020.
He leaves behind his widow Gloria after a marriage of 68 years, and his 3 daughters Sharon, Suzette and Serena, his grandchildren, Debbie, her husband Sam, Rhiannon and Keith, and his great grand daughters, Hollie and Bethany.
His son Stephen, predeceased him in 1987 as did his son-in-laws Philip and Alan in 2010 and 2003 respectively.
Although he made his home in the UK after 1970, he never forgot the land of his birth and was a very proud Trini, introducing all his friends to calypso, steel bands and rum punch and continuing to make his favourite foods – rotis and his signature beef curry, doubles, garlic pork, callalloo, pellau, bakes etc.
He particularly remembered his time at the Trinidad Telephone Company and limin’ with all his friends. He will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service for Harry Carabello Young will be held on Thursday 28 May at 12:40pm at the Nab Wood Crematorium, Shipley, Yorkshire, UK, to be followed by a memorial mass once the UK churches are reopened.
