A father of one, Dr Roodal Moonilal proudly admired his son’s work on display during an open day at his school on Friday.
The proud father, Moonilal, the MP for Oropouche East, who was at Cedar Grove Private School in San Fernando, said, “It’s a great feeling, I’m extremely proud, and we are always very happy to come to the open day and look at his work on display and speak to the teachers. All the reports are very positive; it really lifts your heart to come and receive the cards and the computer-generated work that the child does for a father.”
Underscoring the crucial role of fathers, Moonilal said they have an important part to play, particularly in a society like T&T that is prone to delinquency, crime, and disobedience.
“Father is extremely important in the life of a child. I think you cannot underestimate the importance of a male role model to children at a time like this, not just to keep them in line but to be the mentor and give the experience and guidance,” he said.
He said becoming a father to Nischol has changed his life.
“It brings stability and responsibility. You have to manage your time now so that you can spend time with the child, in some people’s cases, the children, to ensure that you are part of their development and that you are there for them to physically see you, be with you, and be the example that you want them to grow up as, and that is very critical.” Moonilal said society needs to take note of the pivotal role played by fathers in the development of children.
