Swedish char­ter op­er­a­tor Apol­lo will next win­ter start di­rect flights from Scan­di­navia to To­ba­go, Nor­way's Hon­orary Con­sul to T&T Rolf Hol­men has an­nounced.In an email re­ply to a T&T Guardian query, Hol­men said from Nor­way that while trade be­tween the two coun­tries has been "steadi­ly low," T&T could at­tract more tourists from Scan­di­navia–Nor­way, Swe­den, Den­mark, Fin­land."The "tourist in­dus­try has a po­ten­tial to in­crease," he said, but added that "crime re­ports from T&T fright­en the tourists."

He said there are not many op­por­tu­ni­ties for T&T com­pa­nies in Nor­way."Nor­way is a rel­a­tive­ly small mar­ket" with a pop­u­la­tion of about five mil­lion and a stan­dard of liv­ing among the high­est in Eu­rope, he said.Hol­men said there are no sta­tis­tics avail­able in Nor­way for "our ex­port or im­port to or from T&T. To my knowl­edge, Nor­way does not im­port much from T&T."As for for­eign di­rect in­vest­ment, he said Nor­we­gian-owned fer­tilis­er com­pa­ny YARA has a pro­duc­tion plant in Point Lisas.
