Over 60,000 peo­ple in T&T used Dig­i­cel's 4G Ser­vice in the past 30 days and with more and more peo­ple pur­chas­ing smart phones every­day, T&T is on par with the rest of the world in terms of em­brac­ing tech­nol­o­gy.In an in­ter­view Dig­i­cel CEO John Delves said the mo­bile ser­vice provider had seen a huge in­crease in the de­mand for 4G smart phones over the past year.

"We launched the 4G ser­vice and we were the first in the Amer­i­c­as to do. We did a lot of test­ing to make sure that it would run prop­er­ly. We are hap­py with it."He said sev­er­al thou­sand peo­ple chose the 4G ex­pe­ri­ence every month."Once you ex­pe­ri­ence 4G it can help you with apps, of­fice pro­grams it turns your phone in­to a small portable com­put­er."

This is why Delves said the com­pa­ny, in ad­di­tion to sell­ing pop­u­lar smart phones from Sam­sung, Black­ber­ry, Nokia and oth­ers had made the de­ci­sion to cre­ate their own smart phone for the lo­cal mar­ket.In one month Dig­i­cel will launch its smart phone, the DL 600."We are try­ing to what we did sev­en years ago when we broke the mo­nop­oly on lo­cal mo­bile ser­vice."We are try­ing to make 4G af­ford­able and ac­ces­si­ble."

He said the phone would of­fer the best val­ue for mon­ey with a 3.5 inch dis­play, An­droid Jelly­bean sys­tem and high spec­i­fi­ca­tions.The com­pa­ny re­cent­ly launched the Black­ber­ry z10 and the Sam­sung S4 smart phones along with the Nokia Lu­mia se­ries and Delves said the phones were do­ing very well."Black­ber­ry has a loy­al fan base in this coun­try. Most peo­ple here would have had a Black­ber­ry as their first smart phone and the Z10's new op­er­a­tion is very good."
