Digicel launches its own smartphone

Dig­i­cel will to­day launch its own An­droid smart­phone in the T&T mar­ket. The of­fi­cial launch of the DL600, which fea­tures a 3.5-inch dis­play, takes place at Flair Restau­rant, Wood­brook.The phone us­es the An­droid Jelly­bean 4.1 op­er­at­ing sys­tem and has a 1Ghz proces­sor. Word from the telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions firm is that its sights are "firm­ly set on en­sur­ing that every­one can ben­e­fit from ac­cess to su­per­fast in­ter­net speeds at af­ford­able prices."

"This is all about bring­ing the amaz­ing ex­pe­ri­ence of 4G to as many peo­ple as pos­si­ble," said Bri­an Finn, com­mer­cial di­rec­tor at Dig­i­cel Group. "It's about ac­ces­si­bil­i­ty, style and af­ford­abil­i­ty. Ide­al­ly suit­ed to the youth mar­ket who want to be con­nect­ed via mes­sag­ing, so­cial me­dia and oth­er lifestyle and in­for­ma­tion apps.

"The Dig­i­cel Smart­phone DL600 is a fun, ful­ly loaded An­droid smart­phone which em­pow­ers peo­ple to do more, play more, lis­ten more and share more."The phone will be avail­able in Dig­i­cel stores through­out the Caribbean be­gin­ning this month.
