TTSEC re-elected to global securities board

The T&T Se­cu­ri­ties and Ex­change Com­mis­sion (TTSEC) has been re-elect­ed to the board of the In­ter­na­tion­al Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Se­cu­ri­ties Com­mis­sions (IOSCO), un­til 2016.Con­sti­tut­ed this week at the IOSCO An­nu­al Con­fer­ence in Rio de Janeiro, the new board has 34 mem­bers rep­re­sent­ing the ge­o­graph­i­cal di­ver­si­ty of IOSCO's mem­ber­ship. This marks the end of a tran­si­tion­al pe­ri­od that be­gan with the cre­ation of the first board in 2012. The TTSEC is the on­ly Caribbean rep­re­sen­ta­tive on the IOSCO board.

Greg Med­craft, chair­man of the Aus­tralian Se­cu­ri­ties and In­vest­ment Com­mis­sion (ASIC), was re-elect­ed chair­man at the in­au­gur­al meet­ing of the new­ly con­sti­tut­ed board. Al­so re-elect­ed was. Howard Wet­son, chair of the On­tario Se­cu­ri­ties Com­mis­sion, as vice chair. Ran­jit Singh, who was re-elect­ed chair of the IOSCO Growth and Emerg­ing Mar­ket (GEM) Com­mit­tee, con­tin­ues ex of­fi­cio as board vice chair. Singh is al­so the chair of the Se­cu­ri­ties Com­mis­sion Malaysia.

Leonar­do P Gomes Pereira, chair­man of the Comiss�o de Val­ores Mo­bili�rios of Brazil, was re-elect­ed as a vice chair of the GEM Com­mit­tee. He joins Bert Chanet­sa of the South African Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices Board, who was re-elect­ed as GEM Com­mit­tee vice chair. All ap­point­ments are for a two-year term.

The mem­bers of the IOSCO board are the se­cu­ri­ties reg­u­la­to­ry au­thor­i­ties of Aus­tralia, Bel­gium, Brazil, Chi­na, Egypt, France, Ger­many, Greece, Hong Kong, In­dia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Ko­rea, Malaysia, Mex­i­co, the Nether­lands, Nige­ria, On­tario, Pak­istan, Pe­ru, Que­bec, , Sau­di Ara­bia, Sin­ga­pore, South Africa, Spain, Swe­den, Switzer­land, Thai­land, T&T, Turkey, Unit­ed King­dom and the Unit­ed States.
