Guyana bank executive retires

Re­pub­lic Bank Lim­it­ed has an­nounced the re­tire­ment of John Alves, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Re­pub­lic Bank ( Guyana) Lim­it­ed ef­fec­tive June 30, 2015.Alves, who was ap­point­ed to the po­si­tion on April 9, 2010, has a dis­tin­guished ca­reer which spans 40 years. A ca­reer banker and a Fel­low of the In­sti­tute of Cana­di­an Bankers (FICB), his pas­sion for and com­mit­ment to the bank, are well known, from his ear­ly days in the In­spec­tion and Cus­tomer Ser­vice De­part­ments, to his most re­cent tenure as man­ag­ing di­rec­tor.

Richard Sam­my has been ap­point­ed man­ag­ing di­rec­tor (Des­ig­nate). He is cur­rent­ly the re­gion­al cor­po­rate man­ag­er, Cor­po­rate Busi­ness Cen­tre (South). He joined the Bank on March 1, 2009, as re­gion­al man­ag­er, In­vest­ment Bank­ing. Over the last six years, Sam­my worked on the fi­nanc­ing of a num­ber of ma­jor projects in sev­er­al Caribbean ter­ri­to­ries and in Guyana.

Sam­my holds an MBA from The Uni­ver­si­ty of War­wick Busi­ness School in the UK and a BSc (Hons.) in Man­age­ment Stud­ies from the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies. He will for­mal­ly as­sume the po­si­tion on Ju­ly 1, 2015.
