Microsoft TT reduces its carbon footprint

Yes­ter­day, Mi­crosoft TT joined oth­er or­gan­i­sa­tions and in­di­vid­u­als around the globe to cel­e­brate World En­vi­ron­ment Day (WED).

In recog­ni­tion of this year's WED theme, Sev­en Bil­lion Dreams. "One Plan­et. Con­sume with Care", Mi­crosoft TT demon­strat­ed the or­gan­i­sa­tion's com­mit­ment to con­ser­va­tion ef­forts through a telecom­mut­ing ini­tia­tive, which al­lows all em­ploy­ees to work re­mote­ly from their home on that day us­ing Of­fice 365. Mi­crosoft em­ploy­ees con­tin­ued to be pro­duc­tive with the new Of­fice as it pro­vides ac­cess to their ap­pli­ca­tions, in­clud­ing email, cal­en­dar, video con­fer­enc­ing, en­ter­prise so­cial net­work­ing and most up-to-date doc­u­ments, all op­ti­mised to give them the best ex­pe­ri­ence across their de­vices–from PCs to smart­phones to tablets.

Con­nec­tiv­i­ty was main­tained through new tools such as Skype for Busi­ness, and with en­ter­prise so­cial net­work­ing, em­ploy­ees fol­lowed their col­leagues, doc­u­ments and dis­cus­sions with up­dates de­liv­ered to their news­feed. A site mail­box brought Ex­change emails and Share­Point doc­u­ments to­geth­er, to keep all team com­mu­ni­ca­tions and doc­u­ments in sync.

"Mi­crosoft is com­mit­ted to mak­ing a re­al im­pact for a bet­ter to­mor­row, not on­ly around the world but al­so here in Trinidad and To­ba­go," said Frances Cor­reia, coun­try man­ag­er, Mi­crosoft T&T, East­ern and South­ern Caribbean. The Adult Lit­er­a­cy Tu­tors Or­gan­i­sa­tion (AL­TA) joined Mi­crosoft TT by par­tic­i­pat­ing in the ini­tia­tive, which has been en­dorsed by the Unit­ed Na­tions De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme (UNDP). Through the use of Skype for Busi­ness, em­ploy­ees at AL­TA re­mained con­nect­ed as the tool al­lowed in­di­vid­u­als to meet and col­lab­o­rate with up to 250 col­leagues or clients from any de­vice.
