Bankruptcy says Dookeran

Leader of the Congress of the People Winston Dookeran is describing the 2009/2010 budget as one of bankruptcy. Dookeran said the presentation by Finance Minister Karen Tesheira was filled with a lot of “fluff.” “When you get behind the political spin, there is a sense of bankruptcy,” he said.
This bankruptcy, he said, was evident in Tesheira’s “superficial analysis of the global financial situation.” He said her analysis was not realistic, citing a recent report that the US economy’s current recovery was unlikely to be sustainable. Dookeran said the Government’s dependence on the state sector for economic growth was another example of the bankruptcy. He said the measures introduced from the non-state sectors were minuscule.
He used the example of the $75 million being invested in agriculture, stating that that was not enough funding to put a dent in the agricultural production. Another example of the poor measures introduced to non-state sectors was Tesheira’s commitment to directing more business to small contractors, he said. Dookeran questioned why this was being done now, instead of during the construction boom.
DOOKERAN HAS NO
DOOKERAN HAS NO CREDIBILITY!! SAME OLD SAME OLD!!!!! BORING OLD MAN!! WHAT A FOOLISH OLD MAN. WHO THINKS HE KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT. HE IS A POLITICAL LEADER THAT COULDN'T EVEN SECURE HIS OWN SEAT IN PARLIAMENT UNDER THE UNC. NOW HE COP.. AND THEY HAVE 0 SEATS.
Ah yes Pierce, I am sure he
Ah yes Pierce, I am sure he is a better qualified analyst that you to speak on financial matters. Aren't you a student defending the PNM on your blog?
I think much of your credibility was lost when your relative used a government credit card to buy hair weaves and fertility treatments, and you sought to defend that.
PNM til ah dead! indeed.
Jumbie's Watch
Hey Mr Jumbie
Hey Mr Jumbie
Don't worry with young Pearce. He is suggesting Mr Dookeran has no credibility, yet, young Pearce has failed to demonstrate that he can:
a) think for himself;
b) make his own assessments;
c) come to his own conclusions without attacking someone else; and
d) not limited to, his inability to appreciate that using all capitals when typing is equivalent to shouting and quite frankly, immature.
He is also the same person who seemed to think the Guardian's research into the helicopters was biased and incomplete and that 'we' should trust what Minister Browne was telling us because... he (young Pierce) seemed to think the helicopters are being configured to hold 15 persons specifically for us. Yet, a simple visit to Agusta Westland's product page would have demonstrated the 'off the shelf model' of the helicopter is configured to carry 15 persons (including VIPs) as standard. Ho hum.

Sadly, with young Pearce, he is one of the shareholders of Trinbago PLC whom we will have to just put in a chair and say "Yes dear".
PS. I saw a sticker/T-shirt once which said something along the lines of "Youth is wasted on the young". I fully understand now why...

When you have no argument,
When you have no argument, attack the Man and not his argument. So, breds, what did you expect? Just more of the same.
Though the global economic prospects are dim, Trinidad with its 'managed' oil and gas revenues is dimmer. The budget confirms this.
Now, watch Capital-flight and Brain-drain. With these two being fully motivated by good projections of Reality 2020, Vision 2020 is just a copy-painting, it was plagiarized.
Having plagiarized the concept and used it as a vote attractant, now that they are called to perform and show their strategy, their bankrupts of thought of a plagiarizer rises to the surface like cream.
So, now you know why plagiarism is dangerous.
Points of Interest
Points of Interest -
1) When Trinis like a politician they say don't shoot the messenger. If they don't like the politician the say shut up and go.
2) Whatever we may think of the PNM, they have been smart enough to win all but one, two or three elections. That does not say much for the others who are smarter.
3) The PNM is smart enough to realize that there is strength in unity.
4) Whatever you may think of the UNC as stupid and irrelevant as they are, they have 15 seats.
5) We dismiss a leader for not being able to win government, but we promote a politician who did not win his seat.
5) I heard that the meek shall inherit the earth, but in T&T it looks like the stupid will run the country. Who really smart or who really stupid.
6) It reminds me of two boys playing and one calls the other stupid. The reply was if I stupid put your finger in my mouth, which the smarter of the two complied with. The stupid one bit his finger.
Sorry Fairplay Whatever we

Whatever we may think of the PNM, they have been smart enough to win all but one, two or three elections. That does not say much for the others who are smarter.
But I have to offer an alternative thought on this point...
It may not have been the PNM being 'smart' enough to win "all but one, two or three elections" but it may in fact have been to do with the people who (mis)used their vote?
Similarly, if I enter and win a race, because I am the only (real) entrant, it does not mean that I am indeed the fastest in Trinbago. Perhaps the likes of Hasley Crawford/Usin Bolt had not bothered to enter?
Just a thought... or two...

Dose of Reality
Dose of Reality -
1) It may have been is pure conjecture. The fact remains everyone had an opportunity to use their vote. When the NAR and UNC won did the people miss-use their vote? Then at a future date if COP is to win then people may be accused of misusing their vote. There will be no legitimacy of any government.
2) The facts is that it was not a race with PNM alone. Your example of the race is good but not relevant here.
3) If we want others to respect our victory we must respect theirs. If we want people to respect our views we must respect theirs even if we don't agree. If we show no respect for others leaders and parties they will show no respect for ours. This does not mean that we cannot disagree.
4) The tone of the political debate in the country is that if someone does not support my party or view then they stupid or are somehow less than.
Fairplay

Believe it or not, I do respect other people's views/voting choices, even if/when they differ from mine, and if they differ, of course I will try to bring them round to my point of view. (^_~)
The reality is... "Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results" yet, look at the state of Trinbago.
The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." — Albert Einstein
Please note, I am not suggesting that ALL those who voted PNM misused their vote. I have also previously said I do not, cannot and refuse to believe that all of our elected officials are tarred with the same brush as Team Manning. I do believe some of them are trying their best in very trying circumstances. But, look at the actions of the 'CEO' and what he is letting certain post holders get away with and tell me if there isn't something terribly wrong, irrespective of what flora or fauna is on the uniform...
As for the race not being PNM alone... what are the viable options? A whole team of Independents?

Collective Responsibility
Collective Responsibility -
1) As a nation we made our choices. We all voted for our Government.
2) The result is not only a consequence of those who voted for PNM but those who voted for UNC, COP and those who did not vote at all.
3) Those who voted against PNM are as responsible as those who voted for.
4) The opposition failed to unite giving the government to PNM.
5) We cannot then just say it is PNM who miss-used their vote.
6) My concern is that in an effort to castigate PNM we are not taking responsibility for our collective actions.
7) Manning, Panday and Dookeran did not vote for themselves.
8) If I were PNM I might consider the people who voted for UNC or COP as having miss-used their vote.
9) If I were UNC I might consider PNM or COP as having miss-used their vote.
10) If I were COP I might consider PNM or UNC as having miss-used their vote.
11) I can find good reasons to vote for or against PNM, UNC or COP they all have their strengths and weakness. The people who make these choices have good reasons for doing so.
12) PNM ran the country and made mistakes, UNC ran the country and made mistakes, COP which is a rebranded version of NAR ran the country and made mistakes. Whichever choice we make we will be doing the same thing over and over. Manning, Panday and Dookeran are all old politicians. We might be just prepared to live with ones faults as opposed to the other.
13 If UNC and COP cannot unite and the PNM people support their party how can one only proportion blame to the PNM.
14) FAIRNESS demands a non-partisan view of things despite our personal preferences.
WHAT TYPE OF CLOWN ARE YOU?
WHAT TYPE OF CLOWN ARE YOU? It appears that your understanding of Dookeran, views on the budget, has nothing to do with his personality, you took so much time to assassinate his character.

I beg to differ
I beg to differ Desmond...Mr. Dookeran is indeed a fool....a fool for thinking that he can champion the causes of people as ignorant and stupid as Pearce....typical pnm mentality and stupidity...listened to Conrad Enil last night on tv....just proves my point...that these people do not have a clue on how to make policies and how they must be implemented...pnm geek olympics is getting us every where else except where we need to go...
People get the type of
People get the type of government , they deserve,it was not very long ago they voted for this party to govern the affairs of the country, As long as the general population are divide on race and culture and not look at issues; I recall one party promoting issues on the welfare of the nation and "WALLER" look what you got!!

We can no longer afford to
We can no longer afford to continue listening to the people we 'like, love, worship, or drool over' or feel we have a duty to 'protect' and guard with our very soul. We have to face up to reality - it is right up to our faces, and pinching our behinds. What's going on in T&T is the continuing destruction of our country. Our coffers are being emptied, without our permission, yes under the cover of darkness, so to speak. We don't find out about it until after the fact.
Mr. Dookeran, being an expert in his field is telling it like it really is, whether we like to hear it or not. If you missed his communication style - here is my take on it - he has used language that we can all understand, straight forward simple english to explain what is sometimes considered a difficult subject, 'budet', something that can scare the daylights out of many of us. Whether we like it or not .. those are the facts. We can yell, insult each other, stick our fingers in our ears or even eyes, but it still will not go away. Leave personality out of it and pay attention to the facts being presented. We are not judging a Mr. Congeniality here. Surely, we can show that we are an intelligent nation and can think and reason among the best.
For those of us who are annoyed with Mr. D., try and explain to yourselves the rational behind investing $75M in agriculture to feed all our people, vs a $174M and counting for a P.M. Mansion, $700M and counting for a stadium with still no completion date etc., and the purchase of those billion dollar crime fighting hellicopters while we ignore investing from the ground up to fight crime.
The cap is being put on our oil and gas .. our income is getting smaller and smaller, but our lavish spending continues. Where else do you think we will go, except down the sewer, if we do not change the current style of governance.
We can no longer operate to benefit a few within the 'inner circle' and 'well connected' who are feeding at the 'table of plenty', at the expense of the majority. We need to reclaim our country.

Manning's weakness, now we get it, once you attack the TT public like that in their wallets with the dumb property tax, you are going to lose the next elections. No matter how we are split along certain lines, money to your family matters. if you have to pay 10x more for your home tax and the breaucracy that goes with your civil servants and the stress and headaches, you made a great mistake Manning, boy I am ashamed of this situation. Come on COP, Panday and the opposition where are you? I have not seen you exploiting this situation, Manning shot himself in the foot!! guys!!. He is not in control of TT principles of having our own home but taking away from you if you have your own home, then to build steel things and helicopters. Come on TT wake up, dont stand on the sidelines.
