Young meets with Unipet on sustainable energy consumption

En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries Min­is­ter Stu­art Young  met yes­ter­day with the lead­er­ship of Unipet to dis­cuss the com­pa­ny’s role in sus­tain­able en­er­gy con­sump­tion.

Min­is­ter Young met with Chair­man of Unipet Lim­it­ed Dr. Afraz Ali, Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer at Unipet Lim­it­ed, Dex­ter Ri­ley and oth­er mem­bers of the Unipet Board of Di­rec­tors.
 Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary (Ag) of the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries  San­dra Fras­er was present at the meet­ing held at the Min­istry’s In­ter­na­tion­al Wa­ter­front Com­plex Of­fice.

In a re­lease, the Min­istry said, “The pur­pose of the meet­ing was to dis­cuss per­ti­nent is­sues re­lat­ing to Unipet’s busi­ness de­vel­op­ment in­clud­ing sus­tain­abil­i­ty and adding val­ue to stake­hold­ers and cus­tomers.”

The Min­istry stat­ed Ri­ley com­pli­ment­ed the na­tion­al vi­sion be­ing pushed for­ward by the Min­is­ter in re­la­tion to the en­er­gy sec­tor and re­new­able en­er­gy.

Ri­ley point­ed out that Unipet cur­rent­ly has three func­tion­ing charg­ing sta­tions with so­lar pow­er, lo­cat­ed at La­dy Hailes, San Fer­nan­do; Brent­wood and Aranguez and has al­so be­gun to take some of its net­works off the grid.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, Ri­ley al­so ex­pressed “his ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the ef­forts of the Min­is­ter in terms of stake­hold­er en­gage­ment with­in the en­er­gy sec­tor.”
Min­is­ter Young said he is com­mit­ted to di­a­logue with Unipet and all en­er­gy stake­hold­ers to en­sure the sus­tain­able sup­ply, ef­fi­cient use of en­er­gy and over­all re­silience of the en­er­gy sec­tor.
