For the fourth year, Fiesta Plaza, under the patronage of the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism, is continuing its tradition of honouring the stalwarts of the calypso world. Three exciting shows will take place on February 13, 15 and 17 at the Fiesta Plaza at MovieTowne, Port-of-Spain. This year, the trilogy begins with a tribute concert to Lord Nelson, being held on February 13 at 8.30 pm. The legendary calypsonian will be performing some of his greatest hits, which include Meh Lover and Disco Daddy. Also on the cast will be Black Stalin and Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Winston "Gypsy" Peters. On February 15 the plaza will again heat up with a musical journey of the Road Marches of yesteryear. These will be rendered by many of our calypso greats like the Mighty Sparrow, SuperBlue, Kernal Roberts, Calypso Rose and the Lord Relator. From Netty Netty to Get Something and Wave, patrons will have a chance to reminisce and enjoy these musical gems.
Both shows cost $200. The climax of this Carnival extravaganza-Vinti-val-will be the Carnival Village and after party. Carnival Friday will come alive with the amazing mas designs created by the legendary Peter Minshall and the Callaloo Company. This will be the only opportunity to see and enjoy many of the grand costumes from this world renowned artist. The event will also feature the original characters and traditions of longtime Carnival, including a musical feast of tassa, steelpan, rhythm section and ending with a "family-oriented" after-party featuring Imij and Co. Adults pay $75 and children under 12 years pay $25.
