What's to become of PSC after Nizam's statement?

A couple years ago there was a raging argument about recruitment processes and the composition of panels which select persons for entry into the publicly funded medical school of the University of the West Indies. Then there was the charge by UNC MP, Dr Tim Gopeesingh, who claimed that "ethnic cleansing" was taking place in the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.

Similar imbalances also exist within the legal profession, in the teaching profession, indeed in cabinets past and present. There are also growing gender imbalances in almost every profession. The society should be examining all of these imbalances and systematically seeking to redress them.

One question immediately raised is the ability of the PSC to now hold together given the very different positions taken on the issues put forward by the three members, the chairman, and the still to be known position of Commissioner Khan.

The matter now falls within the portfolio of the President to decide if Mohammed and the Commission should continue to hold office.
