Af­ter the for­ma­tion of Vish­wa Hin­du Parishad in 1964, the first Hin­du World Con­fer­ence was or­gan­ised in 1966 at Prayag, In­dia. Thir­teen years lat­er, the sec­ond World Hin­du Con­fer­ence was again or­gan­ised in at Prayag. And af­ter a lapse of 28 years, the third con­fer­ence took place at Prayag in 2007.

Sev­er­al World Hin­du Con­fer­ences have since been or­gan­ised in dif­fer­ent parts of the world. World Hin­du Con­fer­ences took place in 1984 and 2003 in Sri Lan­ka and the Eu­ro­pean Hin­du con­fer­ences were held in Den­mark in 1985, at The Hague in 1988 and in Frank­furt in 1992.

Ad­di­tion­al­ly, a World Hin­du Con­fer­ence was held in South Africa in 1995, the All Africa Hin­du Con­fer­ence in Nairo­bi in 1998 and the World Hin­du Con­fer­ence in T&T in 2000. This was held at the Cas­ca­dia Ho­tel in Port-of-Spain and host­ed by the Ma­ha Sab­ha. New­ly elect­ed Prime Min­is­ter of In­dia, Naren­dra Mo­di, at­tend­ed.
