Oh Guardian of my democracy
I’m now living the glory
I kept inside my national pride
This is the inside story
I detest being called an African
Because my hue is dark
A black Trinbagonian I am, no African
An’ I won’t sit at the back
I am a child of Mother Trinbago
A pseudo Trini I’m not
Chutney, kaiso, pan Trini vibration
The soul of our idyllic lot
So please doh call mih an African
To create we Trini divide
Mih Trini blood flow, Trini love grow
I’m filled with Trinbagonian pride
Oh Guardian of my democracy, yes!
Trinbago the crowing glory
You set me free, Trini is all ah we
That’s my inside story
