As we continue to attack the mosquitoes by demolishing "water collection" sites, I wonder if the powers that be are going to do anything about the wrecks that litter our shorelines and must be breeding areas. Surely these watercraft can be broken up and the scrap used? Do the health authorities ever consider visits to these hazards?
What about using skimmers similar to those used to clean up the Gulf and place them at or close to the mouth of the various rivers that filter into the Gulf of Paria? Barges could be deployed as garbage collectors and add to the effort promoted by the new Government to beautify T&T. Perhaps the minister responsible could start with a drive along the coast from, say, Canning's Point (First Boca) to Williams Bay and continue with the excellent attempts being made by both the public and private sectors.
