The staging of the 30th anniversary of the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) in Trinidad and Tobago on May 28 has not only ignited a frenzy amongst local and regional music fans but has also captured much attention from international entertainers and entities. Ghanaian music star and NAACP Image Award Nominee Rocky Dawuni along with his management have made it clear that they will be present at the 2011 IRAWMA ceremony to witness this unique gathering of global music professionals. Dawuni, who was recently appointed by Ghana's Ministry of Tourism as their Tourism Ambassador is praised for his success in music both at home and abroad and his ongoing positive projection of Ghana in his concerts.

In his new role as Tourism Ambassador Dawuni stated "The arts, especially music can not only bring tourists to Ghana, but create an appreciation for the rich Ghanaian culture outside of Ghana. I am prepared to do my utmost to broadly portray Ghana and its rich heritage through my music, concerts, humanitarian work and appearances worldwide." Dawuni's credits include musical collaborations with U2 frontman, Bono on Bob Marley's War, No More Trouble and with Blues legend Keb Mo on Peter Gabriel's Biko which were both featured on the 2009 Billboard Top 20 Album Playing For Change-Songs Around the World.

His critically acclaimed current album-Hymns For the Rebel Soul-was nominated for a prestigious NAACP Image Award for Outstanding World Music Album and most notably the Ghanian superstar is slated to perform alongside the legendary Stevie Wonder, with special guest Jaenelle Monae, backed by Ricky Minor, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in July. With all these international accomplishments, it is only fitting that at this year's event Dawuni is not only nominated for two IRAWMAs in the Best Album and Best African Artist categories but will also perform alongside Machel Montano HD, Shaggy, Denise "Saucy Wow" Belfon and the great Freddie McGregor at the awards on May 28.
