A native of T&T, faculty bassist, pannist, and composer Ron Reid has established himself as a master of calypso and soca music during the past 30 years. His Sunsteel Sextet is made up entirely of Berklee faculty and alumni. Together, they play a mix of Caribbean folk, Afro-Cuban, and jazz melodies. Along with student drummer Jazz Robertson, they'll give a free show at Jazz at the Fort as part of Berklee's Summer Concert Series.

The annual Jazz at the Fort concert will be held on August 1 at 5 pm, at Highland Park on Fort Avenue, Roxbury, Boston. The rain date is August 8. Patrons are encouraged to walk with folding chairs, blankets, and picnics. Highland Park is known for its willow trees, rolling lawn, puddingstone boulders, and Victorian-era water tower that looks like it could be home to Rapunzel.

"Our partnership with Berklee brings some of the world's finest jazz musicians to Boston's neighbourhood parks," noted Boston mayor, Thomas M Menino. "Music lovers of all ages and the musicians themselves welcome these opportunities to enjoy the arts in great outdoor spaces like Highland Park."
