The Wood­brook Com­mu­ni­ty As­so­ci­a­tion (WCA) is stag­ing Pan on D'Av­enue...A Street Pa­rade, on Au­gust 24, from 6.30 pm-3 am. With the pa­rade head­ing in a west­er­ly di­rec­tion, its route will be along Ari­api­ta Av­enue from the cor­ner of Colville Street to the cor­ner of Tay­lor Street."There will be no vend­ing or am­pli­fied mu­sic along the route," as­sured WCO spokesman Coun­cil­lor Cleve­land Gar­cia. "Just the sweet sounds of the steel­pan."Among the bands promised for this pan ex­plo­sion are Na­tion­al Panora­ma cham­pi­on Petrotrin Phase II Pan Groove, PCS Sil­ver Stars, Re­pub­lic Bank Ex­o­dus, bpTT Rene­gades, Wit­co Des­per­a­does, CAL In­vaders, Courts Laven­tille Spe­cial­ists, White Oak Star­l­lift, Carib Wood­brook Play­boyz, St James Tripo­lians and Brim­blers.

Said Gar­cia: "There will be a rib­bon-cut­ting cer­e­mo­ny at Gat­acre Street, and a cul­tur­al pre­sen­ta­tion at Adam-Smith Square."In ad­di­tion, small steel­bands will be po­si­tioned along the route to en­ter­tain peo­ple whilst they await the ac­tu­al pa­rade. The flow of the bands will be at 15-minute in­ter­vals, and bands will stop and play one tune of their choice at Adam Smith Square.
