Though entertainment has been suffering severely due to the state of emergency, Dil-e-Nadan's Raymond Ramnarine still celebrated his birthday in style with a big bash at the Sting Nightclub in La Romaine. However, while performing Ramnarine told patrons, he wanted them to observe the curfew because he loves what Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is doing about the country's crime situation. The party started shortly after 3 pm and although there wasn't the substantial audience that would be typically associated with a Raymond Ramnarine concert, the performances were thrilling nonetheless. The award-winning chutney artiste who can boast of a wide repertoire of musical genres ascended stage and greeted adoring fans decked in green attire.
In an ecstatic mood, he recollected several of his vintage hits before breaking into songs such as Suhani Gyul, Basante and Doh Blame Me. Showing off his melodic masteries, Ramnarine rocked the club with a number of popular international songs. He belted out reggae hits such as Jah Cure's Call on Me, R&B songs like Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO performing featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock. A full swinging dance session was brought on when he performed the Latin hit Danza Kuduro by Don Omar featuring Lucenzo.
Dutch band 2Famous also joined in with Ramnarine and sizzled with some impressive performances. Rovees Tassa Drummers from Morvant also added flare to the evening of excitement as the men rolled there sticks causing a women to excessively rotate their hips. A highlight on the evening came from the Extreme Breakers Dance Group's performance, which amazed the audience with their agility and strength. The guys left patrons in awe as they twisted their bodies, did cart wheels and balanced on their heads.
