It was an evening of style and fashion as San Fernando's Skyy View restaurant was transformed into a viewing ground for some of the latest fashion trends. Aptly named Stylez City, the fashion event which featured the creations of young designer David George, was organised by the Daniels Den of Fashion and held on November 27.
First onstage was the section Colours-Pride, which was geared at showcasing a person's ego and individual pride. Next up was the T-Shirt-Strength section, which sought to emphasise the strength and popularity of uniquely designed T-Shirts. As the models strutted their stuff on a specially designed silver runway, the small but energetic crowd showed its appreciation with loud cheers and applause.
Also delivering a commendable performance were the members of the newly formed Eyeplay band. Making its debut on the music circuit, Eyeplay kept the patrons entertained with a wide range of songs from different musical genres. The third section to be displayed was that of Co-operate-Dignity, which showcased a creative twist to the everyday work attire of corporate T&T. Humility was the theme of the fourth section, entitled Semi Formal, and which represented the qualities of modesty and reverence.
The elaborate and colourful suits and dresses of the section Formal-Loyalty, brought the curtains down on the event. The sole sombre moment in the show occurred when the members of the fashion house took a few minutes to pay special tribute to the life of their colleague, Petra Abraham. Abraham, who had been a member of the Daniels Den of Fashion since its inception, was shot and killed by armed bandits on November 16.
