Once again the res­i­dents of Pearl Gar­dens in Diego Mar­tin have made se­nior cit­i­zens hap­py for the Christ­mas sea­son. Last Sun­day eight homes that cater to the needs of some of the na­tion's se­nior cit­i­zens were giv­en their an­nu­al ex­tra-spe­cial treat­ment by the Pearl Gar­dens res­i­dents. This year marked the 17th year that the lun­cheon has been staged. Se­nior cit­i­zens from Naz­ereth House, Au­drey Mollineau Halfway House for Women, Tritch­er Home, Fin­bar Ryan Home, St An­drews Home, Jen­ny Poole, Prov­i­dence Home, and Our La­dy of Lour­des were among those that at­tend­ed, along with care­givers.

Around 10 am the fes­tiv­i­ties at Green Mead­ows in San­ta Cruz start­ed with DJ mu­sic, food and drinks. And al­though it had rained ear­li­er that morn­ing, by then the del­uge had ceased and the sun was out. Well known lo­cal ca­lyp­son­ian Ken­ny G took the spot­light short­ly af­ter noon. It wasn't long be­fore one woman be­gan danc­ing and did not sit down un­til the end of Ken­ny's set.

Parang band Carib San­ta Rosa, who played at the func­tion last year, were in­vit­ed again, and they did not dis­ap­point. The event be­came even more in­ter­est­ing when San­ta Claus, bear­ing gifts, made a grand en­trance on a Fire Ser­vices ve­hi­cle.
