Ex­cel­lence is noth­ing new to the San Fer­nan­do TML Pri­ma­ry School. It's a place of high achiev­ers, not on­ly in aca­d­e­mics, but in sports and the arts as well. On No­vem­ber 27, the evening was ded­i­cat­ed to high achiev­ers, stu­dents who ex­celled at the SEA 2010 ex­ams and CAPE in 2010. The Trib­ute to Ex­cel­lence was ini­ti­at­ed in 2002, and this year, 12 past pupils at­tained Na­tion­al Ad­di­tion­al schol­ar­ships, and one past pupil, Shi­va Chack­an, re­ceived a Na­tion­al Open Schol­ar­ship. He is now study­ing med­i­cine in the UK and plans to spe­cialise in di­a­betes.

At the SEA lev­el, six stu­dents placed in the 95 per­centile, in­clud­ing Ashaish Mo­hammed, who placed first in the coun­try. Among those at­tend­ing the event were the Pres­i­dent of TML, Dr Nass­er Mustapha, Kelvin Sokhans­ingh of the Vic­to­ria East Dis­trict, Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, and the school's PTA pres­i­dent, Wazir Ho­sein. The fea­ture ad­dress was giv­en by Natasha Lor­raine John, at­tor­ney at lawyer and past pupil. She chal­lenged the ho­n­ourees to make the world a bet­ter place. Her ad­vice to the stu­dents was to find their unique tal­ent, give back to oth­ers and the com­mu­ni­ty, find a bal­ance in life, and be grate­ful to those who helped along the way.
