Excellence is nothing new to the San Fernando TML Primary School. It's a place of high achievers, not only in academics, but in sports and the arts as well. On November 27, the evening was dedicated to high achievers, students who excelled at the SEA 2010 exams and CAPE in 2010. The Tribute to Excellence was initiated in 2002, and this year, 12 past pupils attained National Additional scholarships, and one past pupil, Shiva Chackan, received a National Open Scholarship. He is now studying medicine in the UK and plans to specialise in diabetes.
At the SEA level, six students placed in the 95 percentile, including Ashaish Mohammed, who placed first in the country. Among those attending the event were the President of TML, Dr Nasser Mustapha, Kelvin Sokhansingh of the Victoria East District, Ministry of Education, and the school's PTA president, Wazir Hosein. The feature address was given by Natasha Lorraine John, attorney at lawyer and past pupil. She challenged the honourees to make the world a better place. Her advice to the students was to find their unique talent, give back to others and the community, find a balance in life, and be grateful to those who helped along the way.
